H-Factor Where Is Your Heart

Harvesting Happiness Talk Radio Welcomes Rex Pratt and Paula Caplan March 27th

rex_prattRex Pratt has been involved in various film and video projects over the past decade. His interest in a project is always based upon the ability of the film to move and inspire the viewer. Between Iraq and A Hard Place is a project that became personal as it progressed. It began by documenting the difficulties of troops’ transitioning back to normal life after combat. After almost 2 years of meeting with returning troops, Rex has developed a special attachment to the troops. He defines himself as “not easily converted to a new cause”. However, the personal stories that he became involved in have stirred his filmmaking talents and inspired a film that will move you and touch your heart as you experience up close what is in the heart and minds of our young troops. He is currently working on his next project that also deals with war and assisting in the completion of the book Between Iraq and A Hard Place with his partner/brother, New York Times best-selling author, James Michael Pratt. Lisa Cypers Kamen Harvesting Happiness

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness

Negative emotions such as worry, anger, fear, and resentment are called negative emotions because they lead to thoughts that drain away our time, energy and forward direction.  Can you remember a time when you were feeling good, working on something or perhaps enjoying time with friends and then a worry or resentful feeling washed over you and lead to some negative thoughts? Pretty soon you find yourself feeling lousy, not wanting to participate and you might sit down and feel really terrible not wanting to do much of anything except feel bad.

That’s how negative emotions and thoughts derail us on the happy journey of life.  Now let’s look at the reverse.  Think about a time where you feel joy, elation, hope, and excitement.  Do you feel the power?   You can actually feel your power levels rise and you start moving – talking, dancing, creating and living.  So next time you find yourself down in the dumps, worrying, feeling angry, fearful or having resentments change your thoughts to something brighter and feel those negative emotions fall away.   In a positive state you can then do something about the situation that is related to those negative emotions and solve the problem.

Some of us love the heat of summer, some the cold of winter.  Others love the crispness of fall with its turning leaves and others love the sense of renewal that comes with spring.  No matter what your favorite season, there is happiness to be found year-round.

Take time to observe the changing of the seasons and spend time enjoying nature.  Take delight in the little things…a butterfly flitting from flower to flower, birds chirping in the trees, the sound of raindrops on your umbrella.  Take pictures of some of these small miracles and put them in an album.  When you are having a down day, pull out the photo album and think back to happier times.

Celebrate the cycles of life that each season present. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall illustrate the passage of time and milestones of our own human experience.

So, find joy in every season—winter, spring, summer, or fall—and find your happiness!
