Lisa Cypers Kamen Harvesting Happiness

Lisa Cypers Kamen Harvesting Happiness

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness

Negative emotions such as worry, anger, fear, and resentment are called negative emotions because they lead to thoughts that drain away our time, energy and forward direction.  Can you remember a time when you were feeling good, working on something or perhaps enjoying time with friends and then a worry or resentful feeling washed over you and lead to some negative thoughts? Pretty soon you find yourself feeling lousy, not wanting to participate and you might sit down and feel really terrible not wanting to do much of anything except feel bad.

That’s how negative emotions and thoughts derail us on the happy journey of life.  Now let’s look at the reverse.  Think about a time where you feel joy, elation, hope, and excitement.  Do you feel the power?   You can actually feel your power levels rise and you start moving – talking, dancing, creating and living.  So next time you find yourself down in the dumps, worrying, feeling angry, fearful or having resentments change your thoughts to something brighter and feel those negative emotions fall away.   In a positive state you can then do something about the situation that is related to those negative emotions and solve the problem.

Independent filmmaker, author, happiness coach and speaker Lisa Cypers Kamen creates these blogs to entertain, enlighten and educate us as we each undertake our own personal search for happiness. Happiness is an Inside Job. Harvesting Happiness Talk Radio welcomes Sue Lynch of There & Back Again, January 12th

Sue Lynch, There & Back Again, There and Back Again, Reintegrating military personnel, Certified Yoga Instructor, JAG officer, Benefits of Yoga, Harvesting Happiness, Harvesting Happiness Talk Radio, Lisa Kamen, Lisa Cypers Kamen, H-Factor Where is your HeartThis week Harvesting Happiness Talk Radio welcomes Sue Lynch of There & Back Again; a non-profit reintegration program offered at no cost to veterans of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Because of their combat service abroad, many veterans return home with a myriad of complex emotional issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). TABA offers a structured program of yoga, meditation and alternative approaches to healing the whole body to help veterans transition back to their lives stateside.

Our objective is teach veterans how to use breath awareness, meditation and yoga to manage their symptoms of PTSD, to improve their relationships with loved ones, to begin to fully participate in their lives, and to give back to their fellow veterans through TABA’s Train the Trainer program. TABA is comprised of respected professionals who are dedicated to the healing of our military men and women, and our program is based on both the latest research on the benefits of alternative therapies and staff and advisory board members’ personal successes managing symptoms of PTSD.  For more information, visit www.thereandback-again.org.

In addition to being executive director of There & Back Again, Sue is an attorney and an officer in the Judge Advocate General Corp in the US Army Reserve.  A veteran herself having served in the Gulf War and in Kosovo, Sue found practicing yoga to be instrumental in recovering from PTSD, became a certified yoga instructor and has since opened her own yoga practice in Charlestown, MA where she also offers Train The Trainer programs for There And Back Again.  Based on her personal experience, Sue is passionate about offering a comprehensive approach to healing to her fellow veterans now, not 10 years from now, so that they too can find relief. Sue works with the Veterans Administration, Vet Centers, Yellow Ribbon Program, Warrior Transition Program and Department of Veteran Services to educate and train staff and veterans on techniques to facilitate self-care. Being in charge of our own healing paves our journey back to ourselves.

Prior to her commission, Sue held the rank of Staff Sergeant. She enlisted in the Army Reserves and completed Basic Training in 1987. Sue graduated from Suffolk University, Suffolk Law School, U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Officer Basic and Advanced Course. She received her 200-hour yoga teacher certification from Finding Inner Peace Yoga School and is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance.
