H-Factor Where Is Your Heart

By Lisa Cypers Kamen

What does humor do for us and does it contribute to our overall happiness. As seen from the list below, there are at least five benefits to humor, and I am sure there are many more. Take just a minute to think about your favorite joke, funny story, or something else that makes you laugh. I don’t know about you but it seems like an instant change happens to my attitude when I do that. What about you?

I thought the recipe for happiness was something to think about, although not necessarily along the line of something humorous.

“If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.”

Recipe For Happiness

2 Heaping cups of patience
1 Heart full of love
2 Hands full of generosity
Dash of laughter
1 Head full of understanding
Sprinkle generously with kindness
Add plenty of faith and mix well.
Spread over a period of a lifetime
And serve everyone you meet. (Taken from www.butlerwebs.com/inspiration/happiness.htm)

Humor does all of the following things for you, whether you realize it or not.

  1. boosts your immune system
  2. stabilizes your blood pressure
  3. massages your inner organs
  4. stimulates your circulation
  5. increases the flow of oxygen to your muscles

…thereby dramatically decreasing your tension!

It is impossible to be in a bad mood or be stressed when you find something funny. Laughter has a magical way of making everything seem a little better. I dare you to try and stay in a bad mood the next time that you find something funny; you won’t be able to do it no matter how hard you try.
