By Lisa Cypers Kamen, What is Your Happiness?

I know what you are thinking, unless I am Emeril Lagasse or an Iron Chef, what does happiness have to do with cooking? For many of us it is a chore, just one more thing on our never-ending list of things to do.  But cooking can bring happiness not just to others (provided you are a decent cook) but to you as well.

Cooking is a creative outlet.  You are only as limited as your imagination.  Don’t be afraid to try new things.  Allow yourself to let your imagination soar. There is another aspect to cooking that is a bit more ephemeral but just as important.

Cooking is a way we nurture and care for ourselves and the people for whom we cook. Cooking is an expression of nurturing. Imagine the process we go through to make a meal; the shopping, the chopping, the cooking, the table setting, the serving and the cleaning. This all takes time, energy and consideration. Cooking is a mindful process that when performed while fully present and engaged is joyful act of love, service and celebration.

Just remember, happiness is the main ingredient in nurturing and in life!

Independent filmmaker, author, happiness coach and speaker Lisa Cypers Kamen creates these blogs to entertain, enlighten and educate us as we each undertake our own personal search for happiness.  Happiness is an Inside Job.
