By Lisa Cypers Kamen, What is Your Happiness?

1.  Let the sun in! Just twenty minutes of exposure to the sun every day can help you to combat SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).

2.  Come up with a positive affirming statement, such as “My happiness brings me and others more happiness.” Then keep thinking it and saying it to yourself constantly.

3.  Recognize your positive qualities and accomplishments. It’s okay to tell yourself you’ve done a good job.

4.  Surround yourself with people who have similar goals, values, hopes and dreams. You just might catch their happiness bug.

5.  If you have the chance, start a garden. Watching something you have planted and cultivate is a thrilling experience!

6.  Make sure that every day you take some time for yourself where it is quiet. No Internet, TV or books to distract you. Just “be”.

7.  Have goals for yourself, make plans and take action to achieve them. Having something to pursue that we value makes us happy in life.

8.  Let go of the things you cannot change and accept them.

9.  Love – not only yourself, but also what you do, who you’re with, as well as your friends and enemies.

10. Strive for what you want and go for it. You have to make things happen.

11. Ask how you make things better for others instead of blaming someone else or seeking someone else’s advice on how to fix something.

12. Be a role model for your and other children. They will learn from your example.

13.  “Try try again”…and keep trying. Don’t give up!

14.  Let love into your heart. It isn’t enough to want love – you have to be open to it.
