Not only do you want to make sure that you are maintain your level of happiness in your everyday life, but you also want to nurture and maintain happiness in your marriage, if you are married. Here are a few tips to help get you started and feeling great:

  • Make time to plan a date night once a week. Enlist the help of family or friends to watch your kids, if you have them. You can go out to eat, attend an event or just enjoy quiet time at home. The important thing is making time for you.
  • Write notes to each other. You can slip it into their shirt pocket before they head off to work or into their lunch. Just let them know how much you love and appreciate them.
  • Show compassion and concern. If you or your spouse is dealing with something that troubles them, let them know you are there for them and concerned about whatever the issue might be. If they have a deadline for a project, offer to do chores around the house that they normally would so that they can get their project done. If they are ill, offer to run a warm bath for them or something else that will make them feel a little better.
  • Cook them their favorite meal or dish. Surprise them with it; in other words, do it without them specifically asking for it.
  • Give them compliments and thanks. This ties in with our second point but remember to thank them for even the simplest, smallest things they do.
