H-Factor Where Is Your Heart

To Be loved and Accepted for Who We Are by Lisa Cypers Kamen, What is Your Happiness

By Lisa Cypers Kamen

Deep down inside, we all want to be loved and accepted for who we are.  On one hand, we want to live as uniquely and individually as possible.  Yet on the other hand, we are constantly seeking the approval and acceptance of others.  We walk this fine line daily because we don’t live in a vacuum…what we say and do has an impact on the people around us and vice-versa.  rainbow

This is where life gets complicated.  We want to be happy and we want others to be happy.  So how do we live for who we are and what we believe in while making space for others to do the same as well?  And, why do the opinions of others matter so much to us?  Of course, it always feels good when we have the approval of the people around us, but their approval isn’t what matters.  Approval is often cloaked in fear and control. Somehow, we must find the middle road.  The answers are often muddled and unclear.

When we start to get confused and lost in deciding what is best for ourselves as well as those around us, this is the time to cut to the quick.  Truth is often clothed in simplicity.  Here is the simple truth; choose what makes you happy.  Choose happiness.  You see, your happiness, or your H-Factor isn’t really all that complicated.  Your happiness, regardless of how complicated you make it, is a choice.  The second truth worthy of mention here is that when you choose what makes you happy from a place of deep compassion and love then you can’t go wrong.   And whether or not others approve of your choices doesn’t really matter in the long run because you have found the brand of happiness that emerges from love and compassion.

Making mindful choices usually results in right actions and positive outcomes. Being aware of how our positive actions affect ourselves and others breeds a brand of joy that is authentic and from the heart. This brand of happiness is lasting and healing for everyone involved.
