WHAT IS YOUR HAPPINESS? HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS BY LISA CYPERS KAMEN

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness

How do happiness and success go together? Is one dependent on the other? These are questions you may have asked yourself.

If you think of happiness as a key to success it makes things a little easier. Happiness is the key that unlocks the door of success. If you have a generally positive attitude, then it would logically follow that you would be pretty successful. What if your attitude and overall outlook is less than positive?

Does that mean that you can’t be successful? The simple answer is, no it doesn’t. You can change your attitude which will in turn change your outlook. You can learn from others who for the most part are positive people. Look for things in your life that make you happy. There is some caution, though. It is best to avoid things that are dangerous such as drinking lots of alcohol or engaging in some extreme sport like skydiving. The things to look for are not going to harm you, they will only help you. ? There are many financially successful people that are unsuccessful at living happy lives. What separates people with money and happy people with or without it are attitude and outlook.

Remember that what brings pleasure for one person may not be the same for you. Everyone is unique! It may be hard to come up with things that make you happy, but take the time to find those things and it will make your life better…and it just might make you a little more successful in whatever you are doing.

WHAT IS YOUR HAPPINESS? HAPPINESS AND THE UNKNOWN BY LISA CYPERS KAMEN

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness

A lot of people fear the unknown and there can be a variety of reasons for this fear. Do we really need to fear the unknown, and what is the unknown?

The unknown could mean that you are afraid of uncertainty about the future. What could happen tomorrow, next week, a month from now, a year from now, etc.? You might be concerned about your job, health or something else and may have questions such as: What if I lose my job? What if my health gets worse? What if something happens to my spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend?

There is another way to look at the unknown besides fear of the future. You may be thinking of something spiritual – something that cannot be seen physically. You might question your beliefs and faith and wonder about those unknowns as well.

Often what we fear most about the unknown is that it is out of our control. Human are almost always least comfortable when we cannot control our environment or our circumstances. Guess what? Life is filled with unknowns. If we stop and think about it, we do not know more than we know.

After thinking about these things, you might ask yourself the question posed at the beginning: do we really need to fear the unknown? I believe that the simple answer is no but this could vary from person to person, and it is okay to question the unknown. Just remember that is all in what your perspective and attitude toward such things may be. If we keep our eyes on the present moment as it is the one thing we know for sure.

WHAT IS YOUR HAPPINESS? HAPPINESS AND GOSSIP BY LISA CYPERS KAMEN

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness

Gossip…how can this be a positive thing in our lives? Let us see how.

How important is interaction and communication with friends? The gossip between women and the chats they have with one another is one way to put this. Gossip in this case is not a negative, but a positive that needs to be looked at more closely.

Negative gossip would include things such as speaking badly of another person or wanting to hurt someone else with words. Positive gossip includes the daily chats people have with one another, we catch each other up on what is happening in our lives, and no negative effects occur.

Regular communications with friends, when we get a chance to gossip and chat about everything, have a very good impact on our health and add a good deal of happiness to our lives.

The reason why chats with friends have such a positive effect on us hides in increased levels of progesterone – the hormone which reduces stress and anxiety. Progesterone level is also important in social relationships. For example, higher levels of this hormone in women triggers desire for expansion and strengthening of social bonds. In other words, high levels of progesterone makes a woman want to help other people even if it involves risk.

Looking for that instant mood smoother? Grab a pal and have a conversation!

WHAT IS YOUR HAPPINESS? HAPPINESS AND COMMUTING BY LISA CYPERS KAMEN

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness

Commuting…it is a word that many people dread. Yet it is a reality for most working people, no matter what part of the country you live in. Most people think of commuting problems in big cities like Chicago or Los Angeles, but it doesn’t matter where you live, you may still find commuting to be your least favorite part of the day.

You can change your attitude when it comes to commuting. It can start with your commute to work tomorrow and it is easy. Think positively about the experience and don’t become distracted. Remember, you can make commuting positive or negative – no one else can make that choice for you.

The questions arise, can happiness be achieved while commuting? Can commuting actually become pleasant? Let us see.

Why is traffic so unpleasant? One reason is that it’s a painful ritual we never get used to – the flow of traffic is naturally unpredictable. As a result, we don’t adjust to the misery of rush hour. Ironically, if traffic is always bad, and not just usually bad, it would be easier to deal with. So the commutes that really kill us are those rare days when the highways are clear. Another way to look at commuting is as an opportunity to be with yourself, your thoughts and the present moment. A way to reframe the annoyance of traffic would be to see it as a moving meditation while paying attention to your body and the sights and sounds around you as you travel from A to B. This simple new awareness may offer you a completely different perspective and actually put a smile on your face. May your next commute be a more pleasant experience!

WHAT IS YOUR HAPPINESS? HAPPINESS AND FINANCIAL WOES BY LISA CYPERS KAMEN

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness

Money is not the most important thing in life to find happiness. It’s been said that money can buy happiness but remember – true happiness can be accomplished by us by maintaining a positive, confident outlook. Money simply makes the journey more comfortable.

To be happy in life sometimes is very hard to achieve especially if you have limited finances.  As a person there are many dreams in life that you want to achieve to make you feel fulfilled and happy, but the problem is that you cannot make it because of some financial problems. This can lead to distress from not being able to fulfill our dreams; which can then lead to other problems, such as getting sick. If we have the proper attitude, things will be better even if at the present time we are experiencing financial problems.

To make our life happy even if we are in financial crisis we must be determined and optimistic, we can focus our attention on many things; like our family, we give attention to them and find time to be with them even if we are at home or conversing with them.  We can also talk with our true friends, those that are always there for us even in difficult times. We may find it a challenge, but we can shift our thoughts to some positive goals for ourselves.

Money can be earned but happiness is very difficult to find even if we have plenty of money. We must look within ourselves to find happiness in life. Research shows that money can buy happiness associated with basic needs but it cannot provide sustainable and authentic joy. Be careful not to put all of your eggs in one basket.
